Wild Roses

Wild Roses 1997
In the collection of Jean & Richard Lampi

I have been fascinated with wild roses since my childhood in Northwestern Ontario. The scent of the roses has always drawn me to them, but the colour of the roses themselves was also appealing. I love pink! I lived on the prairies of southern Manitoba in a well developed farmland area and on the tundra of the far north of Canada over an 8 year period, both these places did not have wild roses. When I moved to Yellowknife, much to my delight, the following spring there were masses of wild roses in bloom. I was transported back to my childhood and resumed my enjoyment of this hardy, fragile and beautiful flower.
