...and her tears begin to fall |
...and her tears begin to fall
2001
In the Collection of Pastor Stephen Hall
This is the second in the series which expresses what could be the very next stage of grieving process that happens while "she's coming undone"; crying. Sometimes women cry great volumes of tears. These tears are often times invisible; one has to be willing to come close to the woman in crisis to really see what she is feeling behind the "I'm find" response to our societal greating "Hello. How are you?".
Our eyes are said to be "the window to our souls". Look closely and you will really see how she is doing. I have quilted the background in a cross hatch design to represent the sense of being caged that she may be feeling by the crisis set in motion which is beyond her control.
I have melded my love of words (as a budding poet) with my love of quilts and have quilted the following original poem on the quilt:
...and her tears fall
Her tears begin to fall
One at a time
Slowly escaping
As understanding dawns
Tears falling faster
Breaking a trail
Down her cheeks
She is wounded
Sobs intensify shaking her
Tears now tumbling
Down the well worn path
Towards her shattered heart
How much more
Before her tears
And heart dry up
Never to feel again
